EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

From Implementation to Operational Maturity

The Technology Department has completed major foundations in campus safety, access control, emergency communication, transportation visibility, instructional/event spaces, and operational monitoring. The 2026–2027 direction is to mature these systems through stronger visibility, faster alerts, clearer accountability, and phased expansion based on instructional impact, safety priority, funding readiness, and grant opportunities.

SLMS is complete; ADS visual display work is installed with sound system installation still pending; RCS audio is complete with stage screen/projector pending. The next rollout order should be refined as remaining sites and phases are scheduled based on operational needs and implementation readiness.

SafeWalkTracker

SafeWalkTracker is an internally developed walker dismissal accountability website built by Abraham Perez. It scans student ID barcodes, checks walker status from Synergy export data, and creates timestamped searchable records.

  • Status: basic tests performed; not live yet
  • Expected use: 2026–2027 school year
  • No parent access or automatic notifications currently planned

Sonicu Monitoring

Sonicu will monitor all school freezers and refrigerators for high/low temperature, door-open conditions, and power-related issues. Alerts will go through text, email, phone, and app notifications to Food Department, Maintenance, and designated administrators.

Crosswalk Parent Access

Crosswalk K-12 student tracking is running for administrators and schools. Parent access is being piloted only at Ed Pastor School at this phase.

InformaCast Bus Arrival & Speaker Display Workflow

Bus drivers can use the same modified Singlewire InformaCast application/workflow to announce arrival to schools. Planned Atlas IP speakers with displays support voice and visual instructional announcements where installed.

COPS Grant Candidate

Door Contact Sensors & Access Control Completion

The district plans to include Verkada Q-Series QC11-W wireless door/window sensors in the next COPS grant application. The goal is to track door-open activity, address physical-key visibility gaps, and try to complete remaining exterior doors without electric strikes or access-control locks.

RCS Intercom System Upgrade

The district plans to include a new intercom system for Rio Colorado School in the next COPS grant application as part of future school safety infrastructure work.

Vape Detection / Air Quality Sensors

The district plans to include Verkada vape detection and air quality sensors in the next COPS grant application. The request originated with the middle schools, with SLMS and SWJH prioritized first and elementary schools included in the future rollout plan if approved.

Lobby Buzz Buttons

The district is working toward completing lobby buzz-button workflows at each school so secretaries can verify visitors and control access into the rest of campus.
